Art has the potential to change lives. When words are not enough we turn to images and symbols to tell our stories. Through creativity we can find a path to health and wellness.
- No previous art making experience is necessary to avail of art therapy.
- Usually it is not the image that is important, but the process of being creative.
- Art therapy provides new ways to look at situations and events in our lives.
- Creative work can enable a person to deal in a positive way with life’s traumas and crises.
An Art Therapy Session
- An art therapy session is a safe, confidential, trusting and non-judgemental space.
- You may begin to use art materials from the beginning, or wait until a later session.
- The therapist does not interpret or read the images, but helps to explore meanings and connections.

- I work with children, teenagers, and adults of all ages and backgrounds.
What does art therapy do?
Ar therapy can be helpful for emotional health issues, such as
- Self confidence and awareness.
- Negative thinking or thoughts,
- Stress, anxiety, depression.
- Relationship difficulties – family, friends, school, work.
- Behavioural health/ challenging behaviour.
- Issues arising from change, loss,
- Trauma, illness, abuse.
Art therapy can also be extremely effective for staff training – teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills, personal awareness, developing creativity.
